- If you or your organisation is up for an award, you must abstain from commenting in this category to avoid bias and if you do vote it will not count.

Esports Awards Voting Process:
- The public vote accounts for 25% of the overall vote total.
- The panel vote accounts for 75% of the overall vote total.
- This is reflected in the points available and outlined below.
Points system to count the votes:
- The finalist that you put in 1st place receives 5 points.
- The finalist that you put in 2nd place receives 3 points.
- The finalist that you put in 3rd place receives 1 point.
Total Weighting for winner decision
– There are 24 members on the panel
– The total points available for each award category between the panel and the community is:
- First Place: (120 Panel Panel Points) and (40 Community Points)
- Second Place: (72 Panel Points) and (24 Community Points)
- Third Place: (24 Panel Points) and (8 Community Points)
288 points in total available for each award category split between the panel and community.
The winner of the award category is decided based on the finalist with the highest combined points tally of the panel and the community.
The public vote closes on the 8th of November. The panel points and community points are recorded and amalgamated on the 9th of November.
If after the panel and community points have been amalgamated there is a draw. The tiebreaker will be the finalist winning the community vote.

League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena developed by Riot games the publisher that won the Esports Publisher of the Year in 2017. League of Legends features a 5 versus 5 battle for dominance of the map by strategically taking down all of the opponents structures before targeting the nexus and winning the game. However, the stand out feature that makes League of Legends the game we see today is that over 100 million players every month log on to the game to compete for dominance. League of Legends is a game that is synonymous with esports as it smashes every record there is to break, League of Legends is a game that has transversed standard esports and their World Championship Series draws a closer comparison to the SuperBowl as in 2018 League of Legends for the first time ever was viewed more than the SuperBowl. League of Legends truly sets the standard within esports and is a strong contender for the Esports Game of the Year.
CS:GO
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an FPS with a strong strategic twist developed by publishing powerhouse VALVE, it is the fourth installment within the Counter-Strike franchise and is released on all major 2012 platforms but took to the mainstream with the PC platform. CS:GO is a game that has the power to draw millions from around the globe to play the game on a daily basis. CS:GO propelled further into esports then anyone could have imagined hosting international tournaments with millions of dollars in prize money to be won each year CS:GO goes from strength to strength and as the previous winner of the 2016 and 2017 Esports Game of the Year award it is a worthy contender for the award in 2019.
Rainbow Six Siege
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is an online tactical shooter video game published by Ubisoft. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 1, 2015. The game puts heavy emphasis on environmental destruction and cooperation between players. Each player assumes control of an attacker or a defender in different gameplay modes such as rescuing a hostage, defusing a bomb, and taking control of a capture point. players utilize many different operators from the Rainbow team. Different operators have different nationalities, weapons, and gadgets. The game features an asymmetrical structure whereby the teams are not always balanced in their ability choices. Rainbow Six Siege spotted the perfect opportunity to dive into esports as their game is a perfect fit for the esports structure offering fantastic competitive gameplay with a strong spectator aspect there is no question as to why Rainbow Six Siege has seen so much success.
Fortnite
The concept of the game is similar to previous games of the genre: 100 players skydive onto an island and scavenge for gear to defend themselves from other players. Players can fight alone (Solo), with one additional player (Duos), or with a group of up to three others (Squads). As the match progresses, the playable area within the island gradually constricts, giving the players less and less room to work with. The last player or team alive wins the match. The main distinction from others in the genre is the game’s construction elements, which can give advantages based on skill level and utilization. Battle Royale uses a seasonal approach with battle passes to introduce new character customization content in the game, as well as limited time events, some of which correspond with changes to the game map. Since its initial release, several other game modes have been introduced, including “Playground”, which somewhat serves as a training mode. What truly sets Fortnite apart from other esports is their numbers, Fortnite recently broke all prize pool records previously set with their Fortnite World Cup 2019 having a prize pool of $30million making mainstream news across the entire world as Fortnite took over New York City for the weekend. Fortnite is a global phenomenon that does not stop growing and is a serious contender for the Esports Game of the Year award.
Rocket League
Rocket League is a vehicular soccer video game developed and published by Psyonix. The game was first released for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 in July 2015, with ports for Xbox One, macOS, Linux, and Nintendo Switch being released later on. Described as “soccer, but with rocket-powered cars”, Rocket League has up to four players assigned to each of the two teams, using rocket-powered vehicles to hit a ball into their opponent’s goal and score points over the course of a match. . The game earned a number of industry awards, and saw over six million sales and 40 million players by the beginning of 2018. Rocket League has also been adopted as an esport, with Psyonix hosting their own competitions through the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS). The RLCS features a league format for different regions across the globe all battling it out to take a spot in the RLCS World Championships, this is an international tournament that features millions of dollars in prize money and the only time a team can truly be crowned as the best in Rocket League.
Overwatch
Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment a previous winner in 2018 of the Esports Publisher of the Year award. Overwatch was released on May 24, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. Described as a “hero shooter,” Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 30 characters, known as “heroes,” each with a unique style of play that is divided into three general roles that fit their purpose. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. Overwatch originally hosted their first ever esports event in July 2016 and this caused Overwatch to explode onto the scene picking up major traction and by 2018 January their official franchise league system was launched to great success. Overwatch’s incredible efforts within esports won them the Esports Game of the Year in 2018 but have they done enough in 2019 to earn your vote?
DOTA 2
Dota 2 is played in matches between two teams of five players, with each team occupying and defending their own separate base on the map. Each of the ten players independently controls a powerful character, known as a “hero”, who all have unique abilities and differing styles of play. During a match, players collect experience points and items for their heroes to successfully defeat the opposing team’s heroes in player versus player combat. A team wins by being the first to destroy the other team’s “Ancient”, a large structure located within their base. Dota 2 really comes into its element with their competitive esports scene bringing teams from around the world competing to be crowned the best Dota team in the world. Dota 2 has held the record for the largest prize pool in esports each year beating their own record with their most recent TI8 reaching over $16m.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12, 2018. It is a sequel to the 2015 game Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the fifth entry in the Black Ops sub-series, and the 15th installment in the Call of Duty series overall. Black Ops 4’s multiplayer features the return of Specialists, unique soldier characters with special abilities and traits. At launch, the game features a total of ten Specialists, six of which (Ruin, Prophet, Battery, Seraph, Nomad, Firebreak) are returning characters from Black Ops III, while the other four (Recon, Ajax, Torque, Crash) are new additions. Unlike Black Ops III, the game allows only one unique Specialist per team, in order to emphasize the role of each character. Following launch, more Specialists are added to the roster, with unique weapons and equipment. Call of Duty took a true strategic and tactical turn with their new entrant Black Ops 4 allowing for teams to strategise and sync their operators together for optimal competitive play. This was seen within their Call of Duty World League which has gotten stronger and stronger each year and is a truly incredible spectator experience for esports fans around the globe to see their favourite teams battle it out for millions of dollars.
PUBG
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene for other games. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game’s map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round. Battlegrounds is one of the best-selling and most-played video games of all time, selling over fifty million copies worldwide by June 2018. PUBG used this incredible success and playerbase to launch their esports endeavours which has seen consistent tournaments with millions of dollars on offer for the best teams and players around the globe to compete for.
Street Fighter V
Street Fighter V is a fighting game developed by Capcom and Dimps and published by Capcom for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in 2016. Similar to the previous games in the Street Fighter series, Street Fighter V features a side-scrolling fighting gameplay system. The game also introduces the “V-Gauge”, which builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new skills. The game features 16 characters at launch, with four of them being new to the series. A story mode and additional characters were added through updates and downloadable content. Street Fighter V is one of the most popular fighting games of all time with over 2 and a half million copies sold worldwide. With incredible fluid gameplay and ability to keep evolving your own skill as new characters enter the game it is no wonder why Street Fighter V is a finalist for Esports Game of the Year. Street Fighter V has taken a true effort with creating an esports presence with their Capcom Cup touring the world finding the best players from every region with the goal of pooling them altogether and finding out who truly is the best Street Fighter player.

Ubisoft is a veteran publisher that has been publishing games for over 30 years and has gone from strength to strength as a game publisher and is undeniably one of the best. However, this is esports an industry that is not just games and Ubisoft can hear the community which is how Rainbow Six Siege was created. A game that exploded onto the scene without warning with a fantastic approach to the FPS strategy genre that saw great competitive gameplay as two teams of five battle it out on their beautifully designed maps to be crowned the best team in the world. Ubisoft has dived in at the deep end with esports seeing their latest invitational ‘The Six’ tournament feature a prize pool of 2 million dollars that was funded by both the huge community and Ubisoft. Blizzard is boasting the esports giant Overwatch as their incredibly strong esports title and after their league system being implemented to great success attracting incredible audiences around the world and the biggest organisations in esports Blizzard are a very strong publisher. However, this all changed when Activision and Blizzard merged to make a mega-publisher that holds the strongest title within console esports with Call of Duty a game that set the standards for console esports with sell out arenas all over the globe and an incredible league system that keeps the viewing experience fresh and incredible every time. Call of Duty is released per annum with a game that can be set in any time period with plenty of revisions and additions that keeps it fresh for players and that is why it is the powerhouse that we know and love. Blizzard got their hands on the Esports Publisher of the Year award last year in 2018 and have only gone from strength to strength with Activision and are a contender to be feared for this years awards.

EA Sports it’s in the game. The infamous words that make you instantly know you’re about to get the best sports simulation game the market has to offer and with EA producing both FIFA and Madden annually it is no surprise with both games attracting millions of players across the globe and having fantastic esports infrastructure EA have seriously got a strong standing within the industry. However, this year EA did something that would break the internet, the produced ‘Apex Legends’ the game that everyone knew the name of within hours and the same game that had 50 million players within the first week. This explosive game was not marketed or advertised it was spread by the community like wildfire and EA have seriously backed it as an esport creating infrastructure for tournaments to take place this year. EA hold the biggest titles in sports simulation games and have broken into the battle royale market with great force, they are a worthy finalist for this year’s Esports Publisher of the Year award but have they done enough for your vote?
